Outdoor Gear, Inc.’s Per- and Poly- fluoroalkyl Substance (PFAS) Chemistry Policy

A large group of chemical substances that has gathered attention due to concerns of bioaccumulation in animals and humans, environmental persistence, and the adverse health effects linked in humans is group of chemical substances known as Per- and Poly- fluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS).

Outdoor Gear, Inc. has worked to become compliant with Per-and polyfluoroalkylsubstances (PFAS) regulations and has implemented a strategy for achieving PFAS compliance. We have diligently pursued compliance with PFAS regulations across all our products, and by the end of 2024, all Outdoor Gear, Inc. product types will be manufactured without any intentionally added PFAS.

With the continuously increasing regulatory need in different countries and/or states within the United States of America, suppliers must meet the mandatory restriction regulations and disclose any required information related to PFAS chemistry including, but not limited to the purpose of which PFAS are used, the CAS number of the chemical and certificate of compliance or letter of guarantee to declare the use of PFAS free chemistries upon Outdoor Gear, Inc.’s request.

Definition of PFAS: Refer to Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD):

PFASs are defined as fluorinated substances that contain at least one fully fluorinated methyl or methylene carbon atom (without any H/Cl/Br/I atom attached to it), i.e., with a few noted exceptions, any chemical with at least a perfluorinated methyl group (−CF3) or a perfluorinated methylene group (−CF2−) is a PFAS”. The “noted exceptions” refer to a carbon atom with a H/Cl/Br/I atom attached to it.
